This is a friendly, mixed ability group, where we can discuss ideas, ask questions and learn from each other. Amanda has a wealth of knowledge to share, and likes to support the improvement of horses and riders by focusing on correct biomechanics. Her coaching style supports the physical and mental wellbeing of horse and rider by developing the ability for them to understand each other better. This terms topic is polework patterns - Polework requires precision so it can help you to refine your aids. It helps to improve balance and rhythm. Improves accuracy, straightness and ability to judge a stride. It is a fun way to improve horse and rider fitness and improve your horse’s performance for flatwork and jumping.
For more info about riding or carriage driving sessions and how to get involved as a participant or volunteer see below.
The aim of the RDA (Riding for the Disabled) is to provide disabled people with the opportunity to ride or to carriage drive to benefit their health and well being. Each session has an overall Coach in charge of the helpers, who are required to either lead the horse or side walk. Helpers are required to support and encourage the riders.
East Suffolk group is made up of volunteers and as it is a charity, receives no formal grants or funding of money. It is run on donations and the goodwill and time given by the helpers.
We meet Thursday mornings during term time with a group riding session at 10am for adult riders and Carriage Driving sessions from 10.30am for adults.
There are currently vacancies for volunteers. Experience with horses is not essential as training will be given. If you can spare a few hours on a Thursday morning please let Sue know.
