Camping & Caravanning

Take a break from your daily life and stay on our lovely farm set in beautiful Suffolk countryside. Relax and unwind or join in with all the exciting activities available on site and close by. Our friendly animals would love to meet you.

Our campsite is aimed towards small family groups, couples and individuals who come to appreciate the horse riding, wildlife and dog walks on site. We operate a family campsite, and ask everyone to keep noise to a minimum from 10.30pm.

The campsite is a large, level, enclosed triangular meadow with hedges on two sides, and the western side open with impressive views of the pony meadows and sunsets. Tents, caravans and motorhomes are welcome.

We are only a few minutes’ drive from the A12, but with the tranquil river and woodland walks you will feel miles away from everything.  The pitches are round the outside leaving a large space in the centre for children’s games.

  • Groceries can be delivered. TESCO will do home delivery to our postcode IP13 0ND. The CO-OP in Wickham market will deliver purchases made in store.

Open all year

20th July to 30th August - Closed Monday to Thursday nights during this time due to our residential children’s pony camps requiring the site. Open as usual Friday to Sunday nights.

Basic pitch (without electric) £20.00

A non refundable deposit is payable at the time of booking to secure your pitch.   It is usually fairly quiet but we recommend booking well ahead at busy times, such as bank holidays.

Check in after 12.30. Check out by 12.00. Please leave the site as you would like to find it. 

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome and usually enjoy their holidays with us, just as much as their owners!

The Area 

Valley Farm is situated in 80 acres of pasture, the river Deben runs around the property.  There are traditional Suffolk dykes, ponds, woodland and hedgerows, making it ideal for bird watching. 

We are just a 10 minute, off-road walk from the small town of Wickham Market, which has a good variety shops and restaurants including fish and chips, Chinese, Indian and tea room and a butchers shop where you can get supplies for your BBQ.  

There is a bus stop in Wickham Market with regular busses serving the local area including the county town of Ipswich.

We are only a short drive or cycle ride from many other picturesque villages and towns, such as Easton, Pettistree and Framlingham.

We are about 12 miles from the Suffolk heritage coast resorts of Aldeburgh renowned for its Fish and Chips and Thorpeness famous for the house in the clouds and its boating Meare.  Minsmere nature reserve is just 17 miles from us.  Other places of interest nearby include, Sutton Hoo (Anglo-Saxon burial site), Framlingham & Orford Castles, Snape Maltings, Southwold famous for its Adnams beer and the Amber museum, there are many other museums, historic houses, wildlife parks and places for quiet or noisy days out.

What to do

There is plenty to do for young and older people.  

  • Explore the farm.
  • Enjoy our nature/dog walks round the meadows, along the river banks and through the woodland.
  • Meet the animals
  • Feed the chickens
  • Make friends with the ponies, donkeys, and camel
  • Listen to the owls at night
  • Watch the buzzards, herons and egrets by day
  • Play ball games or fly kites in the meadow
  • Have a picnic.
  • Spot the constellations or look for shooting stars
  • Watch the sun go down while telling stories round your fire pit. (raised firepits/BBQ's only please)
  • Visit the gibbet in Potsford Wood
  • Paddle in the river under Glevering Bridge
  • Cycle or walk round the country lanes into the nearby picturesque Vilages of Easton or Pettistree
  • Choose from a wide range of Equestrian and riding activities on site.
  • Why not book your children into one of our activity days, while you explore the area in peace?
  • Play a round of golf at the adjoining 9 hole pay and play course.
  • Pop into the on site cafe for coffee and cake or delicious meals, while your children wear themselves out on the play ground.
  • Observe the ponies grazing peacefully in the meadows and spot the wildlife.
  • Or just relax and do nothing and enjoy the peace and quiet.

If you would like riding lessons or trail rides during your stay, it is a good idea to book in advance to ensure that horses are available, especially during peak times. For tiny tots we offer a 20 minute lead rein ride round the farm. For older children and adults, you can chose from 1 hour or half hour lessons or trail rides. These are available for non riders through to experienced riders. We teach a variety of equestrian sports at Valley Farm, in addition to teaching riding basics. Why not have a go at Western Riding, Side saddle riding, carriage Driving or Vaulting?
